Houses, seasons, gear sets and a lot more world
Nothing was wiped. Your character, bag, skills, claim and house are where you left them. This is a big one: new houses, a world that changes with the seasons, new things to gather and make, equipment sets, and a long list of fixes from your reports.
Houses, built properly
- Houses wear proper gabled roofs, and each house can have its own roof colour.
- Inside, the walls are joined up the whole way round, with rounded corners. Rooms side by side share one wall, and there is a door wherever the floor changes.
- New pieces: a big room, a tower, a porch and a corner room.
- Houses can go upstairs, to a private upper floor with its own wallpaper.
- Lay a floor for each room from inside it. Face your walls in stone or plaster.
- Shutters, flower boxes, lanterns, wall hangings and small things for the floor.
- A new Houses window lists every piece with its size, level and cost.
A world that changes
- Seasons. The year now turns: autumn colours the trees, winter brings snow on the canopies and in the rain, and spring scatters petals.
- Bees and butterflies gather by hives and flowers, and flocks of birds pass over.
- Trees lean in the wind with the grass, mist rolls in at dawn, storms bring lightning, and you leave footprints in sand and snow.
- Lanterns and lamp posts to light your land.
New things to gather
- Birch (Woodcutting 8) and pine (Woodcutting 22) trees.
- Clay banks to mine from Mining 5.
- Crayfish creeks (Fishing 10) and perch pools (Fishing 18).
- Mushroom patches (Foraging 10) and flax patches (Foraging 18).
Creatures and their drops
- Creatures now drop materials of their own: slime gel, spider silk, wolf pelts, boar tusks, crab claws and ectoplasm.
- Three tougher creatures for the middle levels: the cave spider, the dire wolf and the clay golem.
New things to make
- New dishes: crab cakes, boiled crayfish, mushroom soup, fried perch and crayfish bisque.
- Weave linen at the loom, and work clay at the kiln into jugs and glazed urns.
- Birch spoons, pine stools and a tusk charm.
- Furnish your land with a clay planter, a wolf-fur rug, a ghost lantern that glows at night, a linen banner, a scarecrow and a birch bench.
Equipment sets
- Wear two or more pieces of the same metal (copper, bronze, iron or steel), or the hunter's leather, for a small bonus. Four pieces and the full set add more.
- Item cards show how much of a piece's set you wear and what each step gives. The Stats tab lists your active set bonuses.
Pets for every skill
- Every skill now has a pet to find, twelve in all. Crafting skills can turn one up when you finish something, and Agility when you climb a ladder.
- Your pet cheers when you work in its skill and when you level it up.
- Pets, props, stations, baby animals and trees were all redrawn and polished, and the golem was redrawn to match the rest of the world.
- Cobalt and starmetal tools now look like themselves in your hands.
Named places
- Builders can now name areas of the world. Walk into one and its name appears on screen, and the clock shows where you are.
Your screen
- Your level and experience now sit in a bar just above the hotbar.
- Your health shows as a number beside the hearts.
- Your portrait fills its frame and sits in the middle.
- The world map now shows the whole world as it is built, including places you have not been yet.
Fixes8 changes
- Gates you craft now lead into a room you can see, instead of a grey void. Rooms already built behind gates, and anyone standing in one, are moved over by themselves.
- Losing the connection no longer drops you into an older version of the map. The world stays as it was and catches up when you are back.
- Entering the world, reconnecting and walking into new areas no longer freeze the game. The world now loads ahead of you as you walk.
- The Goals window's milestones no longer slow the game down.
- Chat no longer repeats messages when you walk away and come back, or after reconnecting.
- Ducks no longer swim across land between two parts of the same pond.
- The progress bar while mining or chopping no longer hides behind tall grass.
- An emptied shop list now says "Nothing for sale" straight away.
For builders
- 16 new decor pieces in the editor (F1), from hay bales and training dummies to tents, statues and a bird bath, plus the new trees, rocks, fishing spots, forage and creatures.
- A new Areas tool in the editor: drag a rectangle, name it, and add a line if you like.
- Many more windows can now be restyled in the Godot editor: shops, social, trade, ranks, the right-click menu, item cards and the staff console. Nothing looks different.
