Music, and a clearer start
Nothing was wiped. Your character, bag, skills and claim are where you left them. 0.11.0 still connects, but please update for the music and the changes below: the itch app does it for you, and the web version is already current.
Music
- Anvil has music now. Calm day tracks and quieter night tracks follow the world's clock. Each track fades in, plays for a while, and then there is quiet before the next, so it never drones. At dusk and dawn the music hands over to the other set.
- Music has its own volume in Esc → Settings, next to Effects, Interface and Ambience.
A clearer first ten minutes
- The tutorial says more. Watering wheat makes it ripen in about three and a half minutes instead of five, and the tutorial now tells you so. It also tells you to chop or mine while you wait. The upkeep step says what upkeep costs (four planks and four wheat, or coins). The last step points you at what to do next.
- Hovering a tree, rock or vein shows what it needs, e.g. "Copper vein · Mining 10", and names the tool if you don't have it. The label turns red when you can't work it yet, so you know before you walk over.
Feel
- Watered soil is darker, so you can see at a glance which plots are on the faster clock.
- Crops hop when they grow a stage, and planting and harvesting throw a little soil and grain.
- Finishing a quest now gets the same big banner and sparkles as a level up.
- Coins count up when money comes in.
- Resting chat lines are easier to read over bright grass.
Fewer accidents
- Quit asks twice. The first click says "Quit? Click again".
- Esc no longer cancels a trade by accident. It warns first, and a second Esc cancels.
- The death card now says that worn gear and tools lose a tenth of their durability.
- The Controls list now includes the chat commands, Up/Down in chat, and 1–9 to pick from a menu.
Under the hood
A cleanup pass removed dead code and made the game do less work every frame. On the server, creatures only wander near players, and player-name lookups no longer read every player.
