AnvilRun game
v0.5.0WORLD RESET

An island in the sea, sound, and a lot of polish

Your character was not wiped, but the land was. The world is now an island in the sea, with more islands to come. Your character, bag and skills are where you left them. Every building was taken down and its materials went back to its owner. If your bag was full, what did not fit waits for you in a pile near spawn for 30 days, and a system message tells you where. Please update: the itch app does it for you, and the web version is already current. Older downloads show "A new version is out" instead of connecting.

Sorry about 0.4.0: its downloads and web version could not connect to the world. 0.5.0 fixes that.

An island in the sea

The old town is gone. You now start on a small grass island with trees, rocks, a fishing spot and one of each vendor. More islands will come as expansions.

Claims and a first-day checklist

  • Build on a claim. Everything except a claim stone is now built on a claim that trusts you, and stations work only on a live claim. You can hold one claim at a time.
  • A checklist for new players takes you from chopping your first logs to crafting at a workbench, with coins as rewards. You can skip it.
  • New characters also get three wheat seeds and twenty coins.

Sound, for the first time

Tools, footsteps, pickups, coins, crafting, the interface, and day, night and rain ambience. Sounds far away are quieter. Set the SFX, UI and Ambience volumes in the Esc menu.

The world feels alive

  • Other players now look busy. You see them chop, mine and farm, and you hear them.
  • Now and then it rains. Everyone sees the same shower.
  • At night, campfires and forges throw a flickering light, house doors glow, and fireflies come out. By day, a few leaves drift past.
  • Hits feel like hits. Trees shake and topple, rocks throw grit, the view shakes when you are hurt, and "+2 Log" rises over your head.

Your bag and your screen

  • Drag items anywhere in the bag, split stacks, and drop things. A dropped item goes into a pile that only you can pick up, so a misclick costs a walk, not the item.
  • Move and resize windows by their title and grip. They remember where you put them. Esc → Arrange HUD moves the rest of the HUD.
  • Crafting has a search box, a "Can make" filter, a Max button, and shows recipes above your level with what they need.
  • Hover anything to see its name and the useful part: time to ripen, lots ready, time to regrow, a creature's level.
  • Chat keeps up with the newest line, and each player you whisper gets their own tab.
  • You are always told why. Every refusal is a red toast with a sound, and a click on ground you cannot reach says "Can't get any closer".
  • The hotbar and ability keys go by key position, so AZERTY keyboards work.

Balance

  • Combat hits now count toward your main level, like every other skill.
  • Offline gathering wears tools at a quarter of the rate, so one axe lasts the full 8 hours.
