New trees, ores and fish, ladders you can walk, and fair shares
Nothing was wiped. This one needs the new download: older versions will ask you to update when you log in.
New things to gather, all the way up
- Every gathering skill now has something new every fifteen levels or so past 30:
- Trees: willow (30), maple (45), yew (58), redwood (72) and silverbark (86).
- Rocks: cobalt (68), starmetal (81) and crystal (93).
- Fishing: trout (27), salmon (41), pike (55), sturgeon (69) and moonfish (84).
- Foraging: hazel (28), herbs (42), elderflower (56), rosehip (71) and glowcaps (85).
- Look further from the start for the higher ones: the north and east islands, and the far west.
- They all have a use: ten new dishes, baskets, bowls, boxes and a flute, cobalt and starmetal bars, new axes and pickaxes, and a crystal circlet.
- The better tools still speed you up, but by no more than two beats a swing.
Ladders you can walk
- Ladders are part of the path now. Click the top of a cliff and you walk to the ladder and climb it, no stairs needed. Clicking a ladder climbs it straight away instead of swinging your axe at it first.
- Every step onto a ladder trains Agility.
Fighting together
- Everyone who lands a blow on a creature gets the kill for quests, daily tasks and milestones, not only whoever struck last. Hunting experience is shared by how much each of you did. The loot goes to whoever did the most.
- If someone else finishes your target you see "The goblin falls.", not an error.
- Bows need a clear shot: walls, fences, buildings and cliff faces stop an arrow. Water, trees and boulders do not. Your character walks round until it has a line.
Your character, as you are
- The portrait in the top left shows your character wearing everything you have on: helmet, cape, shield and weapon. It changes the moment you change your gear.
- It no longer sits squashed at the top of its frame.
A picture for every skill
- Every skill has its own icon now: a saw for Woodworking, a chisel for Masonry, a watering can for Farming, berries for Foraging, a pot for Cooking, an anvil for Smithing, a bow for Hunting and a winged boot for Agility.
Goals on the dock
- There is a Goals button beside the others at the bottom right.
Safer accounts
- After a few wrong passwords you have to wait a moment before trying again.
- Guild rosters and invitations are only seen by the people they concern. Guilds hold up to 50 members, and a guild invitation lapses after three days.
Smaller things5 changes
- Pulling up your claim stone and planting a new one carries on the upkeep you had left, rather than starting a fresh free week.
- Whisper someone with a space in their name with quotes:
/w "Big Tom" hello. - Blocking someone blocks every character on their account.
- If the game asks you to update and the world later stops asking, it lets you in again without a restart.
- The main menu, chat, the quest windows, the quest board, teleporters and the hotbar were rebuilt from the ground up. They should look the same; tell us if anything looks off.
