Thralls, and a polish pass over everything
Nothing was wiped. Your character, bag, skills and claim are where you left them. Please update: the itch app does it for you, and the web version is already current. Older downloads show "A new version is out" instead of connecting.
Thralls: skeletons that work your claim
Skeletons now drop skulls. Craft a skull into a binding charm at a workbench, use it at your claim stone, and a skeleton rises to work for you. Set it gathering a kind of tree, rock or fishing spot on your claim, or send it to harvest and replant your fields, and choose a chest for it to fill. It works while you play and while you're away. It keeps going until the chest is full or your claim's upkeep lapses.
A thrall works at about a quarter of your own pace and earns you no experience. It is help, not a replacement for playing. A claim holds one thrall per tier, and each one adds to the claim's upkeep. Other players can watch your thralls work and examine them.
Gathering and farming take fewer clicks
- When a tree or rock runs out, you move on to the next one of its kind nearby. Offline gathering does the same.
- A harvest replants itself from the seed it gives back.
- Tilling stays on until you press T or Esc.
- Tools warn you before they break, and rubble can be cleared by hand.
- A fire can take ten batches, not only all you carry, and shows when it will be done.
Clearer feedback
- A finished craft, a harvest or a kill no longer shows up as a red error.
- Refusals say what's missing: your level, how long until a tree grows back, how many coins you have.
- Several actions used to fail silently, including paying upkeep, unequipping, trades and friends. They now say why.
- Your claim warns you before its upkeep runs out.
A world that reacts
- Enemies play a death animation, and hits land with a knock and a shake.
- Trees fall with a burst of leaves. Level-ups sparkle.
- Campfires and forges burn, and chimneys smoke.
- Rain splashes on the ground. Birds take off when you walk up.
- New sounds for doors, catching animals, chickens, whispers and trades, and every button clicks.
- Your character faces what it's working on. Other players fade in and out instead of popping, and small position corrections glide.
Away from the keyboard
After five minutes idle your name shows "(away)", so nobody wonders why you don't answer. After twenty minutes idle in one spot you're logged out. Gathering you left running carries on offline, and "Return to the world" brings you straight back.
The tutorial
The tutorial now gives you enough materials to finish. It goes on to teach planting, harvesting and paying upkeep. Finishing a step shows a toast.
Also
- Chests have tooltips, drag and drop and a fill count. Shops grey out what you can't afford.
- A trade window flags an offer that changed under you.
- Chat tabs show unread counts, and Up/Down recalls what you sent.
- Players show a name when you hover them. The right-click menu has a title, and keys 1–9 pick its entries.
- Zoom is remembered, there's a Master volume, and right-click turns a volume down.
- The login screen puts your cursor in the right field. "Try again" appears when the world can't be reached.
- Crossing into a new area no longer hitches.
