v0.11.0NOTHING WIPED

A map, a new HUD, and gear that fits

Nothing was wiped. Your character, bag, skills and claim are where you left them. Please update: the itch app does it for you, and the web version is already current. Older downloads can no longer connect.

Maps

  • A minimap sits in the bottom-right corner. It shows you, other players, shops, quest boards and where you are walking. Turn it off in Settings, or move it with Arrange HUD.
  • A world map opens with M, a click on the minimap, or "World map" in the Esc menu. Drag to pan, scroll to zoom, and "Find me" brings you back. Click anywhere to walk there. Click water or a wall and you walk to the nearest open ground.

A new HUD

  • The hotbar sits alone at the bottom middle. The window buttons moved to the corner.
  • Your experience is shown on the plate, and your position on the clock. Hover the clock to read the time.
  • When you are idle or in a fight, the buttons, hotbar keys, quest tracker and chat fade out of the way. In a fight the tracker folds into a small pill.
  • Fights are marked. The screen's edges glow faintly red while a fight lasts, and red brackets frame the creature you are fighting. Turn the red edge off in Settings.
  • The Esc menu has a Settings panel: UI size, volume, and HUD options.
  • Nothing runs off the edge on small screens any more.

Buying and selling in bulk

Shops and the market now let you pick how many to buy, sell or list: 1, 5, 10, All, or type an amount. The total price shows before you click, and turns red if you can't afford it. "All" on a Buy row buys as many as you can afford. Shift-click is gone.

Gear that fits

  • Masks are drawn for your head. Before, the icon was just squashed onto your face. Wolf, fox, cat, oni, tiki, visor, domino, horned masks and more now have their own worn look.
  • Helms too. Knight, visor, winged, round and slit helms, plus the cone hat, have new worn looks. The copper helm, bronze helm and leather coif use them as well.
  • Some "helms" were never helms. 64 armoury pieces were winged cuirasses, pauldrons, hooded cloaks and mantles that we had filed as headgear. They now go on your torso, with torso defence, and many have new names. If you were wearing one on your head, it moves to your torso the next time you log in, or back to your bag if that slot is taken. Some pieces changed tier because of this.

You and the scenery

  • You draw in front of what you stand in front of. Trees, rocks, stations, creatures and animals used to cover you even when you stood in front of them. Now anything north of you hides you, and anything south of you doesn't.
  • Wide bushes and ore veins block both their tiles, so you can't stand inside their art any more.
  • Pigeons and ducks walk forwards now.
Fixes6 changes
  • You can no longer gather, till or fight something one level above or below you across a cliff. The bow checks the level too.
  • Placement ghosts now turn red where the server would refuse: a spot that would wall you in, or a hut off your claim or on uneven ground.
  • Registering asks for your password twice, so a typo can't lock you out.
  • Zoom is locked at the default for players. Staff and builders can still zoom.
  • Builders can now clear and place trees, rocks and decorations inside claims.
  • The right-click menu fades in instead of popping.

Faster

  • Your first frame in the world after login comes about 3 seconds sooner.
  • Clicking water, or something across a river, no longer freezes the game for up to a second. Path finding is about 13 times faster.
  • The Jobs tab no longer slows gathering while it's closed.
  • Clouds, character previews, skill updates and the server's creature tick cost less.
