v0.6.0NOTHING WIPED

Art painted in the game, shadows that fit, and taller cliffs

Nothing was wiped. Your character, bag, skills and claim are where you left them. Please update: the itch app does it for you, and the web version is already current. Older downloads show "A new version is out" instead of connecting.

Shadows that match what casts them

Until now every shadow was the sprite's outline stretched from its feet, so roofs and treetops cast as if they were walls. Art can now carry a height for each pixel, and the shadow is cast from those heights. A roof casts a roof, and a canopy casts a patch clear of its trunk. They still follow the sun across the day. Art nobody has given heights yet keeps the old shadow, so expect this to spread through the world a piece at a time.

An art studio inside the game

Builders now paint the game's art from inside the game. In the map editor, the new Art tool opens a pixel studio on whatever you click: a tree, a sprite, a tile. It has a brush, fill, line, box, colour picker, selection, mirror and flip. It also has a height layer, with tools that raise a wall from its foot and lift a roof to its eaves. What a builder publishes shows up for every player at once. This is how tile fixes, new details and heights will reach the world from now on.

Cliffs at any height

The land is now painted at eight heights, not two. Every cliff is drawn the way the art pack builds it, lip, face and foot, as tall as the drop. Terraces stack, and stairs climb the whole face.
